Spring is coming with the first blossoms and longer days, and it's time to get the bike out of the basement or garage. If you want to make your bike fit for the upcoming bikingr season, you will find useful tips here. Get inspired to spruce up your bike with ease and enjoy the sun's rays on the bike saddle.

Cleaning matters

Who likes to ride a dusty bike? No one. That's why spring cleaning is essential for the start of the season. Here it is recommended to simply remove dirt and dust with a damp cloth. Afterwards, silicone spray gives the paint a great shine. Small rust spots are best tackled with a little WD 40. Spray the area and remove the rust and oil with a cloth after about 24 hours.

Safety first

In order to start the next tour without worries, take another close look at the safety-relevant parts of your bike. Starting with testing the braking effect and the condition of the brake pads. If these are heavily worn, they should be replaced. To see and, more importantly, be seen, make sure your lights and reflectors are clean and in good working order. Charge and test battery-powered lights appropriately. Does your bike have a flat tire? Check to see if it's due to the break in service or possibly damage. Inflate the tires and check them for cuts, punctures or wear. The spokes should also be worth a focused look. Tightened up tight, you'll ensure safety and a comfortable ride. This applies to all the bolts on your bike. Check that everything is tight. Of course, this does not affect the chain, because it should have play and tension. Cleaned and oiled, nothing then stands in the way of a smooth shifting process. Do you prefer to leave the maintenance of brakes and chains to the professionals? Find a bike shop near you with our dealer locator! The bell is probably underestimated, but as a warning signal it is just as much a safety-relevant detail on your bike. Please test it properly once. Do you own a bicycle trailer? Then you should also put it through its paces according to our recommendations. And should a breakdown occur unexpectedly, you are well prepared with the all-round protection of Lease a Bike. It will take immediate action in the event of theft or damage and also offers a free Europe-wide mobility guarantee with roadside assistance. The service package also includes an annual budget for wear-and-tear repairs and inspections.

Comfort must not be neglected

If you want to move comfortably and conveniently, there are still the right parameters to set. The saddle and handlebars should allow for an optimal seating position. Set the right height for your body size and check that the pedals are tight.

Then you are almost ready to go

To ensure that you enjoy your bike in the long term, it is advisable to check the lock for proper functioning before every ride. After all, a stolen bike is especially annoying when you're just looking forward to a relaxing bike ride through nature or on your way to work and the sun is shining. This way, you can enjoy unadulterated riding pleasure and protect your bike from theft. After this check, your company bike should be perfectly prepared to accompany you into a carefree and safe season. Enjoy your mobility, do something for your health and for our green future.
